AFEC - Day 01

Today we broke up in two groups one group is the primary group for AFEC – (American Family Entertainment Center) and secondary is the School project. And vice-versa for the other team there main focus is the school and then AFEC. I am in the group primarily focused on AFEC. Some basics facts are that privately owned yet are in a chain of about 4-5 location in Wyoming, Montana, and Rexburg. The problem is this is the only location losing money anywhere from $4,000 to $40,000 grand a year. They have only been open for a couple of years so in average they loose about 10 grand a year. Our goal is to help them get back in the Black financially.

To do this we broke up in our 5 categories and then 3 area of focus. I am in a team of 11 people I am the only financial (capital) person which will require a lot of work on my part. I am excited but very nervous. I have never been so involved with this type of system.

My goal this week is to establish the 20 questions to ask regarding capital so I can best evaluate there situation, then as a team we can improve their customer service and capital gains.

The 7D Cycle™

This is what Brother Adams has said: from his blog

Today we'll be reminded that any time you start a new team or venture (or any time you add new members to a team) you begin back with the following natural order of group progression:1. Forming,
2. Storming,
3. Norming,
4. Performing,
5. Adjourning
Organizations do not just develop around disciplines (function and practice) like the Eight Disciplines we're using. More recent thinking has led organizations to organize more around their core processes. The following core processes--in progression--were developed and copywrited by PracticeMBA, LLC and permission has been granted to post them on this blog:
The 7D Cycle™ ©2007 Practice MBA, LLC
1. Diagnose
2. Decide
3. Design
4. Develop
5. Dedicate
6. Deploy
7. Deliver

Consider how the 7D Cycle™ should be at work in each of the disciplines for your clients as well as for our firm, "Clark & Young."

I feel that is the 7D Cycle is cool I am excited to understand it better. I was not there on Friday however I am excited to be doing these teams projects moving forward and helping with consulting both at the university level and with American Family Entertainment Center.

Initiative

Levels of Initiative: at the moment is it six steps
Wait – we are past this point
Ask – we are now at this point
Recommend – we are also at this point
Do It, Report Immediately – we are almost there but it must first be passed through the boss (Brad Adams)
Do It Routinely
Do It

Stewardship Delegation is:
Desire
Resources
Guidelines
Accountability
Consequence
Results

We also broke into our 5 engines or groups – myself I am part of the Capital Group, I also have a unique role to be involved with both classes. Both the Comm 250 and this Class Comm 455, our goals for both are similar, yet very different, the 250 class job is consulting for the interior business, whereas the 455 class maintains interiorly, yet they look at others helping them. We have two major projects/ clients the first is the school BYU-Idaho (which is more public) the second is the American Family Entertainment (privately owned.)

The 250 class is going to help the 455 class in being organized structurally internally and mainly focusing on how to help the 455 class. I am excited because I get to work with both parties and gain an insightful perspective. I will be a liaison between the two classes as a “roaming consultant” helping everyone see both class perspectives.
